About Dr. Smaher

I am Dr. Smaher Mustafa, and my path into women's health writing started the same way it does for a lot of people in medicine — by noticing how many questions go unanswered in a typical appointment. I'm a graduate of Allama Iqbal Medical College in Lahore, and I'm currently completing my medical internship at Jinnah Hospital in Lahore.

It was during my Obstetrics and Gynecology elective at Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi that my interest in women's health really took shape. I had hands-on, supervised experience with obstetric and gynecologic assessments, diagnoses, clinical procedures, and patient care — and I saw firsthand how much women benefit from clear, honest explanations of what's happening in their bodies. I later completed a Gastroenterology elective at Shifa International Hospitals in Islamabad, which broadened my understanding of how different specialties work together to care for a patient as a whole person.

Alongside my clinical training, I've built a strong background in medical research and health content writing, and I've spent time tutoring students in medical subjects, research methods, and biology. That combination — clinical exposure plus a genuine love of writing and teaching — is what drew me to my work with Menstrual Portal. My goal here is the same one that brought me to medicine in the first place: to take real clinical knowledge and turn it into information women can actually use, understand, and trust.
